The Science Data Modeling and Computing Group

Our mission is to research, develop, and infuse modeling, computing, and data analysis technologies for science data processing and analysis systems.

Our capabilities are
  • Computational modeling of physical systems for science data product generation
  • Data-intensive analysis for science data product validation
  • Numerically-complex algorithm development for science data product generation
  • High performance computing for science data and analysis systems
  • Liaison between scientists and software engineers
Our strategic goals are
  • Advance physically accurate and computationally efficient modeling technologies to support NASA missions from mission concept studies to mission operation phases.
  • Advance multi-source data analysis, assimilation, and retrieval technologies involving multiple sensors, models, and reanalysis datasets to support scientific and engineering investigations for NASA missions.
  • Advance high-performance computing technologies to support NASA missions.
  • Be a strong liaison between a science data system (SDS) development team and an algorithm development team (ADT)/science team.

The Science Data Modeling and Computing Group is a member of Instrument Software and Science Data Systems Section within Mission Systems and Operations Division at Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology.
